The rate of soil erosion and sediment yield depends on different factors. Vegetation cover is more variable factor effecting occurrence of soil erosion in comparison to the other factors in a given watershed. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the role of canopy cover resulting from land management on sediment yield. Taleghan watershed was selected as a study area due to the availability of sufficient data. Necessary information was provided for MPSIAC model and was made in GIS environment and all needed calculations were done for preparing sediment yield map. The result of the comparison of the calculated and the estimated sediment yield indicated similarity of them (i.e. 98.3% similarity). For impact assessment of vegetation cover effect on sediment control, canopy cover was changed in a range of ±5 to 25% percent with 5% interval in both good and bad conditions. The effect of these changes was applied to bare soil percentage as well. The related thematic maps were prepared and sediment yield was determined. The result showed that sediment yield varied because of changing canopy cover. The increase and decrease of canopy cover by 25%, affected the sediment yield to change by -29.6% and 26.8% respectively.

Selection and accuracy of the appropriate methods for zonation and preparing the map of groundwater quality parameters depend on regional condition and availability of data which is an important stage for groundwater management of the region. The purpose of this research is determining the most suitable interpolation method for determining salinity (EC), nitrate (NO3), pH and total dissolved salts (TDS) parameters of groundwater and mapping of them by using of geographic information systems in Neyriz plain located in southeast of Fars province. For this aim, different methods of geostatistics including ordinary kriging (OK) and simple kriging (SK) as well as deterministic methods such as inverse distance weights (IDW), radial basis function (RBF), local polynomial interpolation (LPI) and global polynomial interpolation(GPI) were used. The result based on the lowest root mean squared error (RMSe) and mean absolute error (MAE) showed that simple kriging (SK) method is the most appropriate method for salinity (EC) mapping (RMSe=3907.53 and MAE=2911.05), TDS mapping (RMSe=2587.19 and MAE=1936.48), pH mapping (RMSe=0.196 and MAE=0.143) and NO3 mapping (RMSe=4.868 and MAE=3.839) among all the methods in the study area. Finally, the results of this research indicated that geostatistical methods have higher priority than deterministic methods and thus are selected as suitable methods in Neyriz plain.

This project is about evaluation of groins in Zanjanrood River, which located in Zanjan province with aim the investigation affected groins in control and recovery land use in the buffer river. Therefore, first we study of groin design standards, thus, we compare the executive groins with these standards. The official and field studies show that the executive groins were designed in low risk and most of parameters like length, space and height of groins are over design. This means the costs are high and non economical. The problem was in operation, so that some components in build maps and plans are deferent from executed groins, especially in groin section and groin foundation. The problem is that hard groins in alluvial riverbed are more non-stable and score in head of them are more. Any way in regime condition space between groins and river width adjustment were suitable. In continue the report is about economical analysis. In this state, pure value for each groin and period time of investment and rate of social decreasing was calculated. Then by calculating for relative between benefit to cost the efficiency rate was taken.

Knowing the rate of evaporation from surface water resources such as channels, reservoirs and lakes is essential for precise management of water balance. In this study, monthly evaporation was determined by Bowen Ratio Energy Budget (BREB) method for Alghadir Lake (Saveh, Iran) from 1995-2007. Some variations have been observed on the estimated evaporation of the energy budget at different years, ranging from 151 cm for 1997 to 174 cm for 2005. Also, there is no specific monthly evaporation pattern for all the years, but evaporation rates were low in Jan and Feb and highest during the Jul and Aug. Surveying of lake thermal structure showed that inflow and outflow energy fluxes to this water volume have large variations and incoming solar shortwave radiation, incoming atmospheric longwave radiation and longwave atmospheric radiation emitted from the water surface are largest energy fluxes for this small and deep lake.

In arid and semi-arid regions the precipitation occurs erratically, and often, with high intensity which causes sediment production and soil loss especially in the areas ploughed parallel to the hill slope direction. In such areas, we can reduce those undesirable effects through employing proper management method. In this survey the effect of two treatments of applying straw mulch in standard plots and over three slope classes of 0-12, 12-20, and 20-40 % with three replicates in the split plot format on the base of RCB design were compared. In all plots, the parallel plough to slope direction was done. After wheat cultivation, on the half of plots, straw mulch was applied uniformly by hand on the soil surface. After any rainfall events, the amount of sediment was measured. Results showed that application of straw mulch caused a reduction of about 36.9, 10.8, and 55.4 % soil loss in three slope classes compared to the plots without mulch application respectively. These amounts for organic carbon loss were 33.2, 7.1, and 29.43 %. Statistical analysis by SAS software showed that difference between two treatments for sediment and Organic Carbon was significant at 5% probability. These results show that straw mulch application can highly increase the infiltration and water absorption and reduce soil and O.C. loss. Also, it can prevent the reduction of soil fertility through reducing organic material loss.

The entrance of ports, deltas and estuary are always subjected to wave attack, obstruction and erosion effects of th environment. The coastal structures of jetty type are erected to protect the facilities of importance and to increase safety of navigation. The contradictory effects of these structures on the environment are considered in this study and for the purpose of application, the Jetty Type structures for the marine environment of Kiashar Port on the North of Iran is selected in this paper. To investigate the effect of jetty structure on Kiashahr port of Guilan provience in Iran, Mike 21 software is used in this study. Wave heights are computed for port entrance for two distinct cases of prior and after the construction of jetty. It has been observed that the wave heights are reduced considerably for the port entrance after its completion. Further, due to the direction of jetty, the port is impressed by north east waves rather than the north-west waves. The wave height reduction is bounded between 0.15 to 1.2 m inside the protected coastal area. In total, the port entrance has more tranquility compared to the original condition. Finally the comparison of wave height of two modules of BW and NSW indicate that due to the refraction effect of port entrance, the results of wave height analysis for BW module are much higher than NSW module.
